LIST OF CHANGES TO CONSULAR SECTION, JUNE 2014


The Consular Section at Uganda Embassy Brussels is open Monday – Thursday, 9am to 4pm, and on Friday from 9am to 12pm

. All Consular Services (Visas, Passport Applications, Travel Documents and Legalizations) are from 9am to 12pm. NO applications will be accepted after 12pm. Pick up of passports/documents is from 2pm to 4pm All Consular services on Friday end at 12pm.

All Visa Applications take 2 days to process. Requests for Urgent (Same Day processing) are at the discretion of the Consular Officer. For Applicants travelling from distant places- A Self-addressed envelope may be prepared with Registered mail stamps to enable it to be traced. The Embassy is not responsible for mail that is lost or wrongly addressed.

VISA APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS:

 1.   One duly filled application form by each applicant.

2.   Two passport sized photographs attached to each application form.

3.   Passport valid for at least six months from the proposed date of entry.

4.   Correct visa fee (€40 for single entry visa &€80 for six-month multiple entry visa).

5.   Letter of invitation/introduction, if travelling on business or visiting friends.

6.   Evidence of travel arrangements (booking details).

7. Applicants may be requested to submit additional supporting documentation.

SINGLE ENTRY VISA:

A Single entry visa is valid for three months from the date of issue and costs €40 in Europe or $50 (at entry point in Uganda).

MULTIPLE ENTRY VISA:

A six-month multiple entry visa costs €80 and is valid for 6 months. Other categories of multiple entry visas (12 months, 24 months & 36 months) can be applied for at the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Kampala. Information on these other categories can be got on the Ministry of Internal Affairs’ website: www.mia.go.ug.

Visa fees must be paid with a Debit or Credit card (Maestro, Mistercash, Visa, Mastercard) or may be paid to the Embassy Bank Account. Applicants who pay to the Bank will need to get a reference number from the Consular section for their payment.

Please note that the visa fee is non-refundable.

Please note that failure to complete the application form fully may result in the issuance of a visa being delayed or refused.

EAST AFRICAN COMMUNITY VISA:

  • The EAC visa is intended for visitors wishing to make a combined visit to Kenya, Uganda and Rwanda during the same journey.
  • It is issued for tourist purposes and NOT business trips.
  • Maximum stay in the joint territory of the three countries is 90 days (not renewable- although it was decided that we would seek clarification on this).
  • The East African visa may be obtained at any Kenyan, Uganda or Rwandese Embassy or border post. If the application is made at an Embassy, it must be of the country where the visit will start.
  • EAC visas cost €80 visa fee

 

OTHER USEFUL VISA INFORMATION:

1.  Uganda visas may be obtained at Uganda missions abroad or on arrival at the country’s exit /entry stations.

2.  Every visitor will be required to carry a passport with validity beyond six months.

3.  No arriving visitor should carry or convey substances or goods prohibited by customs. (Contact Uganda Revenue Authority website: www.ura.go.ug  for details on prohibited substances under the “Customs Tax Guides” tab).

4. Visitors should not overstay their visa validity otherwise they will be subjected to a fine of U$ 30 per day and other appropriate legal action.

5.  Where visitors seek to stay longer than the period granted on arrival, extension of the period should be sought from the Immigration Headquarters in Kampala before expiry of the initial visitor’s pass.

INFORMATION FOR PASSPORT APPLICANTS:

PASSPORT RENEWAL AND NEW PASSPORT APPLICANTS:

1. Completed Form A

2. Completed Form B

3. Two (2) passport size photographs – must be coloured show all facial featuresand both ears. The photographs should have a clean white background.

4. For Passport Renewals- submit the old passport

5. Fee: €90 for New Passports and Renewals and €180 for lost passports. (Payable by debit or credit card or Bank payment)

6. For Parents applying for their children- Original Birth Certificate, if child was born outside Uganda

Please note that passports may be renewed six months before the expiry date.

PASSPORTS APPLICANTS WHO HAVE HAD THEIR PASSPORTS LOST/ STOLEN

1. Completed Form A

3. Police Report

4. Fee: €180 Payable by debit or credit card or Bank payment – Non refundable

5. Passport Number of previously held passport and when it was issued. For those applicants who are unable to get this number- the File Number (beginning with “INT” can be used to find the passport number.)

LIST OF DOCUMENTS THAT MUST BE APPLIED FOR IN KAMPALA:

1.Certificate of Non Impediment: This is a letter required before marriage to prove the applicant has never been contracted in Marriage. This letter can be applied for at the Registrar General’s Office in Kampala. 2.Birth and Death Certificates: These can also be applied for at the Registrar General’s Office using the contacts provided above.

When an applicant has received any of the above documents from Kampala, they must be taken, first to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Kampala for legalization, and then to the Belgian Embassy in Kampala. They can then be brought to Uganda Embassy, Brussels to be legalized before they can finally be submitted to either Belgian or Dutch authorities.

These services are NOT provided at the Embassy, and must be applied for in Kampala.

    

POSTAGE PROCEDURE FOR ALL PASSPORT APPLICANTS

1 Two A4 size Envelopes for mailing documents to and from the High Commission, London

2. 10 International Response Coupons (€2 each and must be purchased at a Belgian Post Office)

3. Registered Mail Stamps to mail complete packages to London

 

TRAVEL DOCUMENT APPLICANTS:

1. Completed Form A

3. Three (3) clear passport size photographs

4. Copy of Birth Certificate

5. Police Letter explaining how applicant has no Travel Document

Note:An Emergency Travel Document is a One-way travel document to Uganda and is valid for One Month
